JAEPA into force on 15 January 2015 - two rounds of tariff reductions before 1 April

The Japan Australia Economic Partnership Agreement, commonly referred to as the Japan Australia FTA or JAEPA, will come into force on 15 January 2015.

This will provide the benefit of two rounds of tariff reductions for importers and exporters in the first half of next year, the first on 15 January 2015 and the second on 1 April 2015.

Australia’s Strategy for Managing Ozone Depleting Substances and Synthetic Greenhouse Gases

About the legislation

The Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989 and related Acts (the Ozone Acts) protect the environment by reducing emissions of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) and Synthetic Greenhouse Gases (SGGs). The Ozone Acts control the manufacture, import, export and end use of ODS and SGGs and products containing these gases. These gases are commonly used as refrigerant gases in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

Closing down of Regional Container Lines - RCL (Australia) Pty Ltd

RCL Management had taken the painful but unavoidable decision to stop the service To & From Australia in December 2014.

The last sailing for RCL (Australia) will be M/V: USAC Jubail Voyage: 1448 S/N.
with an additional "Container Deposit of AUD500/20' & AUD1,000/40' + GST" required.
Container deposit is refundable if empties returne to RCL within the given free time and container is in safe/sound condition.

Tariff Reduction on Textile Clothing from 1st January 2015

Australian Customs will reduce the general import duty rates on Textile Clothing, Bed Linen, Terry Towelling, Curtains.

From 1st Januray 2015 - General Import Duty Rate will be reduced from 10% to 5%

Additionally, any products imported under the Free Trade Agreemnts, with Australia has in pace with various various countries,will also be effected by the Tariff Reduction from 1st January 2015
